The Sino European Systems Usability Network (SESUN) will enable Europe and China to collaborate in the design of usable ITC systems. In addition to large-scale information systems, SESUN will address mobile applications, consumer products and personal and ubiquitous technologies. In general, our work will include:
- Organising seminars and Research Workshop Tours of China focusing on four key themes of HCI, User Centred Design, Interaction Design, Culture and Localisation, and the role of HCI in the University Curriculum
- Establishing the Sino-European Usability Support Centre (SEUC) in Dalian Maritime University.
- Conducting three ‘action research’ based implementation studies in Usability for Workers, Analysis of Localisation / cultural requirements and Usability maturity status of Chinese IT organisations
- Setting up virtual communities such as discussion lists and the resource libarary of the information about systems usability and our reports and white papers
What is systems usability?
In this partnership we refer to 'system usability' to encompass both 'traditional' aspects of software usability and more recent developments in interaction design and 'new usability'.
